London- Jack the Ripper’s murders occurred in the East End of London in 1888 and although the Whitechapel murderer was only a threat to a very small section of the community in a relativity small part of London, the murders had a huge impact on a society as a whole.
As it is generally believed, Jack the Ripper had only 5 verified victims: despite the low number of victims, he is considered the world’s most famous serial killer for the ferocity of his killings. Several factors contributed to make this series of crimes famous all over the world.
At the beginning, the Whitechapel murderer in the eyes of the wider Victorian society came to be seen as the personification of all the evils with which the East of London was associated.
To know the real history of Jack the Ripper, we need to go back to the XVII century when there were a lot of victims in the East London; all of them were prostitutes who were quartered by a killer whose identity was unknown and who made cuts so perfectly that he was supposed to be a doctor.
Moreover he knew exactly where to cut, in fact there was never any blood next to the hurts and this make us confirm that he probably was a doctor. Anyway, the murders became more and more frequents and the police found a letter in which the killer signed himself as “Jack the Ripper”.
People became frightened and no one went out between the 11.30 and the 12.30 p.m. which was the hour in which Jack used to kill his victims. He made his first victim on august 31st, 1888 and the last one on November 9th, 1888. The most famous roads in which Jack made his victim were Buck’s row, Hanbury street, Berner Street, Mitre Square. The police after the fourth murderer captured a fake Jack to reassure the people.
He was a Jew, and he was a barber. What most catches our attention is that the victims where only prostitutes.
The most reliable version of the story tells us that jack was probably sent by the nephew of the queen Victoria who was ill of syphilis, a sickness that was transmitted by having sexual relations with the prostitutes, and who had a child with one of these ones.
So, Jack maybe wanted to kill that prostitute in particular.
But that prostitute succeeded in having the baby. She was a girl and her name was Alice. Before being killed she gave the baby to a doctor saying: “take care about her, she is a princess”. Today according to this hypothesis, there are lots of pubs named Alice in memory of this story.
The last murderer was the most ferocious and bloody of all time. From that moment on we have no news about Jack and then no other killer has ever managed to kill victims in that horrible way.
Jack the ripper’s case is still studied in all universities of criminology, today. Despite lot of researchers that tried to know more about jack, we don’t know what happened to him, a killer who “came from nothing and disappeared in nothing”.
