London – After travelling throughout all of Italy, Gelato Festival is coming to England, for ten days dedicated to Italian taste and gastronomy.
It is well known that English summer can’t compare to Italian summer heat… but this doesn’t mean we should give up the practice of enjoying a proper-made gelato, for Gelato Festival is coming to the rescue, with its seventh edition.
It has been travelling out and about in Italy, but it is ready to leave its mark in Europe too, with stop-overs in London (24th June-3rd July), Berlin (7th-10th July), and Valencia (14th-24th July), before its return to Florence, where the final will establish who is going to be crowned “Best ice cream maker of Italy”.
In fact the Festival is mainly a competition, where the best ice cream makers show off their creativity with appositely created new flavours.
During Festival days there will be all sort of gastronomic discovery events, meetings with starred chef and important ice cream factories, which will entertain and educate in the art of Italian gelato.
To gain access to the Festival, you have to buy a Gelato Card, available online or on site (the online cost for London is 22€), which will allow you to be part of daily activities, and to taste the 8 ice cream flavours competing for the title, plus the other 6 flavours hors concours, offered by sponsors.
Sponsors to the Festival are: Nutella, with its artisan ice cream; Pernigotti, with its 5 monorigine (Santo Domingo, Fondente Ecuador, Perù, Săo Tomé, Stracciatella di Cuba), Cookies the Original, and Buontalenti, with a special flavour offered by Gelateria Badiani of Florence, winner of last year’s edition.
All you have to do is… Get your spoons ready!
