Actor Luca Zingaretti (Il Commissario Montalbano/Inspector Montalbano) is performing live in the UK for the first time a piece based on the book Lighea by The Leopardauthor Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa.
Zingaretti brings Lighea to the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford on 21 July as part of the Blenheim Palace Festival of Literature, Film and Music, and to the BP Lecture Theatre at the British Museum on 22 July as part of Sicilian Splendour, a free evening celebrating the soul of Sicily, past and present, culminating with Zingaretti’s performance at 7,30pm.
Exhibitions on Sicily are currently open both in Oxford and in London. Storms, War and Shipwrecks is at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford until 25 September, and Sicily: Culture and Conquest, sponsored by Julius Baer, is at the British Museum in London until 14 August.
