MotoGP in Silverstone with Valentino Rossi first time on a UK track, the new Ducati

The Home of British Motor Racing, has confirmed its 2011 calendar of events, offering the very best action from both two and four wheeled motor sport. 

This year also sees the launch of the new ‘Silverstone Wing’, the circuit’s state-of-the-art Pit and Paddock complex, on 17 May. The ‘Silverstone Wing’ will play host to most of the circuit’s major events in 2011, including the FORMULA 1 SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX and the AirAsia British Grand Prix (MotoGP). At Silverstone will see, for the first time on a UK track, the new Ducati rider line-up of Valentino Rossi and Nicky HaydenValentino Rossi has signed a two-year agreement with Ducati, The Rossi/Ducati fantasy has been put forth for years, with the fervor on the subject reaching its pinnacle this season, as Ducati reportedly wafted a €15 million salary (almost double Yamaha’s offer) in front of the nine-time World Champion.

With more than 60 years of history Silverstone has become one of the most prestigious venues dedicated to motorsport. In 2011, fans will have eight British riders to get behind on the MotoGP grid, as former World Superbike rider Cal Crutchlow steps-up to join the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team.

The ‘Silverstone Wing’, a state-of-the-art, multi-million pound new Pit and Paddock Complex, will welcome MotoGP in 2011, thus adding to already breathtaking facilities at Silverstone.

From 10 to 12 June* 2011 you’ll be able to watch Cal battle it out against the likes of Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner and Jorge Lorenzo as they wrestle these 200bhp machines around Silverstone’s iconic corners.
