The 11th Septemeber 2001 is one of the bad day of the history of the world, a day in which 2,752 people died because two airlines crashed on the Twin Towers in New York. They were a symbol of America economic power, in fact, a lot of important worker, for the development of the Country, were going to the World Trade Center to work. In the morning begun the attacks, they were 4; to the Twin Towers and then between Pentagon and White House. People understood quickly that somone wanted to attack the Heart of America, but no ones knew why. The American President, George Bush, told of terrorism, and from that day “terrorist attack” will be the most frequent phrase in America, and the governement reaction was the war, againts Afghanistan and Iraque to fight it. The attacks were claimb by al- Qaida, a militar group, that they wanted to fight Occidentalism.
That was the official explanation, but there are a lot of strange situations and theories about 11th Semptember, like it is possible that Bin Laden worked to the American Government, or Secret Service; so this terrible attack could be just an excuse to cover american plan to attack, like a way to have a lot of oil, or maybe also to other aconomic and political reasons. We cannot know now if conspiracy theories are true, but we know certainly, a lot of terrible humans stories but it is also possible to find stories of people who were saved by the case.
They are brilliant and incredible stories, like Yan and Camilla story; they are an english couple and were in New York to work. The couple lived from 16 years in America, and in 2001 they were just a young in search of fortune. Yan worked and still working in finance, and that morning he had to go to Twin Towers to go to an important conference. He was in a hotel around World Trade Center area, Camilla was in their own house in New Jersey, with his brother, an important opera singer. Yan and Camilla decided to met in the Twin Towers for a coffe after the Conference, but it could not happened because the young husband,before to go, was had a look to Conference leaflet and he discovered that he would have had to book a ticket to go there, but he had not. During he was realizing that he could not to go, seeking through the window, between Twin Towers he saw an unbelieveable situation, an airplain crashed to one of Towers, and immediatly he saw a lot of smoke.
It was incredible, but he could not know that in a minutes all the area would be distroyed, he was not thinking that all towers could fall down. Camilla was at home because that morning his brother was not fine, and he said to her that he would like stay at home, and did not reache him. Camilla had breakfast in front of television and watched the terrible images about the attack, in that moment she was so worry for his husbund, she was shocked. Yan and Camilla fortunatly phoned quickly, and they spoken toghether in that terrible moment. After the first moment of fear, Yan explained to Camilla that it will be a big problem to the economic system, and that was better to go to the bank to save all their money. So Camilla ran to the bank to take money, but obviously the bank was closing and no one wanted to listen Camilla, they answered that it was impossible, but she was strong and she had all their money. When they told their history they explained that they are very luckly because they knew what it would happen for the financial system.
After the attacks there were not signal, and all telephons lines were not working, so they could not speak toghether again and could not know about their friends.
The days after as well were terrible, Yan said, just smok and rubble, nothing more, and Camilla said that was a terrible “barbecue smell”.
The America after the attacks were a Country destroyed, everyone were scared, they said me that now they cannot think they were in that condition, it was a really terror system. Every day was an alarm, it could be, red or orange, if it was red all people had to stay at home, and everyone had instruments to stay there to long time and to resist with no energy. In case of chemical attack they had a way to repair, so when the alarm was red all were at home waiting for the another color, wearing a special mask.
Now Camilla and Yan have two sons, and they are in England, but they are still loving America, they said that now there all is better and these are just memories.
