Today short dresses and mini-skirts are fashionable and a thousand of girls all over the world usually wears them… But how were they born?
Thanks to Mary Quant, born in 1934. She was a British fashion designer who invented in 1964 the mini-skirt because she wanted to realise a new modern rebel society of young girls who could be the future of an old London.
Mini-skirts had a great success so they replaced long dresses, which were uncomfortable and often with sad colours, whereas mini-skirts were very colourful and easy to wear.
Of course, that new fashion and that desire of change were the result of a society in progress and this is even confirmed by the born of the first telephone, television, taxi.
Still now this is a trend in continue evolution, since the ’60s, and it will continue to change. It won’t stop soon until girls won’t be tired of that. In a few words we can say that this trend will have long life because women (and men!) love mini-skirts, that is even a sign of femininity and emancipation.
