2011 opens above all at all with a pleasant novelty to whom alive or he works in London but also to visitors and tourists: the increase of the rates, already tall, of the public transports.
The increases, in vigor from January 2 nd 2011, they concern the whole London system of the public transports, from the Tubas (subway) to the buses, from the DLR to the London Overground.
Off-peak fares during the evening peak
If you’re travelling into Zone 1 on Tube, DLR, London Overground or some National Rail services between 16:00 and 19:00 on Mondays to Fridays, you will be charged an off peak fare when using Oyster pay as you go. This could save you up to £2.50 per trip.
Remember, you’re charged according to when you touch your Oyster card on the yellow card reader at the start of your journey. So if you touch in at the start of your journey between 16:00 and 19:00 and touch out in Zone 1 at the end of your journey, you will be charged an off-peak fare.
We’ve upgraded single fare finder to show fares by direction to take account of this change.
Oyster Ticket Stops will no longer sell Day Travelcards. You can still get them from:
· Ticket offices at Tube, London Overground and National Rail stations in London
· Self service ticket machines at Tube, DLR, London Overground, National Rail stations and tram stops
· London Travel Information Centres
We’re simplifying the Day Travelcard range and withdrawing the following zone combinations:
· Anytime: Zones 1-3, 1-5, 2-6 and 2-9
· Off-peak: Zones 2-6 and 2-9

You may find it cheaper and more flexible to get an Oyster card. The Oyster daily price cap allows you to travel as many times as you like in a day (from 04:30 and before 04:30 the next day), and you’ll never pay more than the cost of an equivalent Day Travelcard*.
*Does not apply for travel to/from Grays, Purfleet and Chafford Hundred.
