 London: On the 23th of July at the Westfield London, at Sheperd’s Bush, in occasion of the event “A passport to celebrate the glamour of Italian Fashion”, Lily Russo, Shopping Editor at Grazia UK, delivered a lecture about the Italian trends of the moment. She has analyzed lot of Italian’s firms, from the most renowned and famous to the emergent and newest ones. The Italian designer and the artisans, especially the ones who works the leather, are famous and well-known all around the fashion world.

Dolce and Gabbana’s haute couture collection is a love letter to the country that the love: Italy. Lemons and flowers as a tribute to Sicily, also charming details, foxes and squirrels.

Moschino dives into the 90’s as an homage to the top models of those years: Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and so on.

Its new creative director is Jeremy Scott who has directed the collection to young girls using the McDonald’s brand in its collection with the typical M and red and yellow colours. Fendi launches the Fendi Bugs which are dolls that you can fasten to your bag, also Karl Lagerfeld designed one. Valentino, which is famous for its quality and its artisans, advertises the shoes’ collection Rock Stud, which is the trend of the moment: studs, sandals, black, white and red are the trends. Tod’s, with its designer Alessandra Facchinetti, who has worked for Valentino before, has a ready to wear collection, classic and current at the same moment.

There are also a lot of Italian’s designers: Paula Codemartori with her colourful and mini bags; MSGM for its typical street wear style; Vivetta, which is very famous in Britain through the online shopping; Au Jour Le Jour with its prints; Alessandro dell’Acqua NO 21, with the characteristic sophisticated trend; Stella Jean, which is advertised by Armani, with its beautiful African prints; Acquazzurra with its Colombian designer Edgardo Osorio, who has designed the most comfortable shoes of the moment.

Q:What is changed from the past?
The importance of social media has influenced the fashion world, indeed fashion blogger like Chiara Ferragni, who has 2,5 million followers, is able to influence the trends of the moment.
The street style is a platform for new brands, and together with the online shopping has contributed to the accessibility and affordability.

Q:How do you think that the Italian designers influence the fashion world?
Italy, as France, has a strong heritage to deal with, designer of the past has written the story of fashion. Today the thing which is envy and copy by all the other nation is the ability and the skills of the Italian artisans. Fendi’s artisans need to have 10 years of training to learn how to work with leather, and how to do a bag. In the luxury market Italy will ever have a place and be competitive.

Q:Do you think that the haute couture will decrease in price?
No. Luxury market will increase more and more, because there will ever be rich people who want to have something different and unique from the rest of the world. In China there is a very significant example: Monogram pattern by Luis Vuitton, the best seller of the firm, is seen by Chinese people like too common and widespread so they buy online the exclusive collection, which price begin from 3500 pounds.
