TEA: A WORLD DRINK
At Borough Market, situated in Southwark street, one of the most interesting stands sells tea. The seller is a Indian woman who explains everything about tea. To the question: “How much is the tea?”, she tells that the price depends on the making process. “The most expensive is white tea (£12.99 per kilo)”, she said, “that comes from the buds of Camellia sinesis, a plant of the family of Theaceae”. This drink, according to recent medical research, has heath benefits as an anticancer potential, or has effects on cholesterol levels. She explains that the tea might also have negative impact on health, because it includes caffeine.
The woman has lived in the Capital for 16 years selling this delicious Indian product in London, the city of tea.

BREAD AHEAD
Doughnuts are one of the most appreciated sweets in the world. If you want to try tasty doughnuts, go to a pretty food stand called “Bread Ahead”, in Borough Market. It sells brownies made from 77% dark chocolate, cookies, bread and doughnuts.
They’re special because they’re filled with a soft cream cheese and covered with a lot of sugar. They are not only really delicious but also cheap, in fact they cost £2,50! All the food you find at “Bread Ahead” stand are made by their owners in their shop based in London. At the stand there is a nice young girl called April: she is really helpful to explain what was on the stall.
Borough Market is the most famous food market in London, where people go to find very high quality food like cheese, spices, sweets, cakes, truffles, bread and some traditional products from all the world: Italy, Asia, England.
It’s a beautiful experience that every one that loves eating and drinking should do, because it’s a rich source of British and international products.

A GREAT WILD SCOTTISH DEER SALAMI
Fabio works for the British charcuterie Cannon & Cannoni Fine Food. He comes from Rome and he has a degree in Journalism. Fabio has been in London for 5 years. He showed us a salami made of Wild Scottish Deer that is the most popular product he sells. He likes the salami for two reasons: first because it is a food without animal fat and then because it is spicy.
In Southwark Street, Borough Market takes place in a festive atmosphere. Part of Bridget Jones’ Diary was filmed here. It is a very famous food market, with both British and international products. At Borough Market it is also possibile to meet new people and share common interests about food and drink. It is useful for people who care about quality and the provenance of food.

FAIRY CAKES
Cupcakes are also called “fairy cakes” and they are made from sponge. They are sold in cups made of ceramic or paper. There is a lot of choice of types and tastes and they can also be used as decorations. Cupcakes are sold especially during weekends and they are bought mostly by young people.They cost £2 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and £2,50 on the other days of week. Borough Market is very important because it sells different foods and specialties not only English food but also food from many other places.

ELEONORA SELLS LIFE
Her name is Eleonora and she is Italian. She sells spices, imported from all part of the world and partially produced by her bosses who come from Spain and Sweden. To the question “Why did you move to England from Italy?”, she replies that the situation here is better and there is more work. She smiles a lot, I believe she is very happy. She adds: “Here I’m selling life”. In the popular Borough Market in London there are a lot of typical products from different countries. In this place you can meet various traditions and can know and taste food from almost anywhere. From meats to sweets, the Market can please everyone.

WOW TRUFFLE!
Deborah Fellow sells truffles. She explains that they come from Kent, in the South-East of England. People can’t buy it online but only in markets.Truffles business is not big because it is very specialized, it’s a small family business. To the question “What are the most popular truffles products?”, she replies that people usually buy a particular hot chili truffle called “Wow Truffle” and a truffle mustard that is made by cheese, truffle and chicken.

FRENCH TASTY CHEESE
At Borough Market a stall sells local cheese from North-West France. The seller explains the characteristics of French cheese compared to other types of cheese: it’s hard to judge the food because everyone has got a personal flavour but his personal opinion is that French cheese is very tasty.
To the question “What do you like about Italian food?” he replies that the power of Italian food is simplicity and the capacity of amalgamating several flavors together.

EVERYONE LOVES BROWNIES
”Olivier’s bakery’’ is a French shop with different kinds of bread: the ”baguette”, the white loaf, the brown and the mixed (for those with intollerances). The seller, a very kind woman, explains that English people do not have any preference because they want to try different bread every time. This doesn’t happen for the brownies, because everyone likes them!
Borough Market is a place where English people can ”taste the world”. It is one of the oldest food markets in London where you can find nice people selling a large variety of food from a lot of countries with different cultures and traditions.
