The Cinema Italia UK is increasing, screening by screening, its audience, the reason of this success is because the members of the staff, compound for people that have been working years on the fields of: cinema, entertainment and communications, know very well how and what movie select.

Cinema Italia UK is definitely became a “must” for all those that belong to the Italian community here in London, thanks mostly to the careful choice that its staff is used to do during the selection of the movies.

Introduce an high level of Italian films means to give a great support for the promotion of the Italian culture to abroad, and this is truly a noble porpoise because not always, the Italian people, know how sell a good image of themselves, anyway the Cinema Italia UK support them in this arduous task.

On Sunday 29 of November at the cinema Genesis has been screened the last film chosen for us, its title was “Noi e la Giulia” and has been a funny comedy about the stereotypes of our country.

Directed, scripted and interpreted by the young and brilliant director and actor Edoardo Leo, his last work has received a several of acknowledgements by the critics because not only well done but also because very well interpreted; it is worth mentioning the others actor that took part in this movie: Luca Argentero, Stefano Fresi and Claudio Amendola.

The film tells the story of three men, each of them with a failed professional career, and how they will finish for work together for carrying on theirs project: open an Farmhouse.

Diego, interpreted by Luca Argentero, is a car seller that after the death of his father decides to leave Torino for another unknown destination, Claudio (Stefano Fresi) has just done fail an alimentary market that was belonged to his family and he is near to divorce with his wife; instead Fausto (Edoardo Leo) is a TV seller of Rome, full of debits and near to be dismissed, he wants to change his life and start another kind of business.

These three men will meet at the moment to buy an old but suggestive country house in Campania, South of Italy. Then, they decide to join their efforts and start the project of open a Farmhouse together.

While they are beginning the refurbishment, reaches them also Sergio, one of the many creditors of Fausto, that understanding the potentiality of this country house decides to invest his, work, time and money for join to them in this ambitious project.

But in our country we have a lot of problems and one of these is the plague of the criminal organisations that affected a great part of the regions of south of Italy. A local boss, called Vito, reaches their Farmhouse for asking them the payment of a fee, but the fortitude of Sergio convince the others men to do not accept this kind of illegal payment and try to fight.

Although afraid to face Vito, interpreted by Carlo Buccirosso, these four men will be able to sequester him and to bury his Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300, underground.

They know how is difficult their situation because will be obligated to face this local criminal organisation and in the same time manage the holiday-house that, day by day, is becoming always more famous.

In fact when they Buried the Vito’s car (Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300) they forgot to take off the key and turn off the engine, so the radio is left turned on and from underground continues to issue music, so this mysterious music by underground generates the legend about Giulia’s ghost.

Therefore these four and disorganised men will have to resolve their complicated situation among: the camorra that wants the payment of a fee and manage the holiday-house and its incredible legend.

However, during the movie these brave and a bit crazy mates will receive the help by Elisa, former employer at the Claudio’s alimentary market, by Abu farmer from Ghana and the same kidnaped Vito that finally will decide to give an help to them.

This series of unfortunate, strange but funny events, will hold busy our protagonists for whole movie, rendering the vision always and in every moments attractive and interesting. Tommaso Vicarelli

Saturday morning in Downing Street the crowd screamed: Don’t bomb the Syria

After the speech held by British ‘s prime minister David Cameron at the house of parliament, the Londoners belonging to the Labour and Socialist Workers parties, during the morning of today, Saturday 28 November, have organised a great demonstration of protest against the intention of Conservative party to carry out several aircraft strikes on the ground of Syria.

After the terrible terrorist attack happened at Bataclan arena in Paris, the level of alert in whole Europe, and mostly in those countries like Belgium and England where there is a multi-ethnic society, is very high.

Cameron during his speech with the president of French Republic Hollande, vowed logistic and military support to the French aviation for carrying out raids against the strongholds of Islamic State that are located between the borders of Syria and Iraq.

But two days ago, in his recent speech in front of the members of the parliament, he did not hide the will to attack with the own Royal Air Force the bases of this State of Terror.

However this Cameron’s porpoise did not like to the people joined this morning in Downing Street, in fact they don’t want that United kingdom is involved in another war against the states and the peoples of Middle East.

They affirm that the critical international situation in that area is the result of a wrong foreign policy of states such as: United State, Saudi Arabia, Turkish and England; they continued saying that to bomb Syria and Iraq will not improve the things but will be only worse.

In the interviews that I took during the demonstration the protesters said that the reason of this political crisis in Syria and Iraq is the sequel of years of erred military actions.

For the crowd of protesters, the United Kingdom has been bombing for decade others countries as a reminiscent of its Colony Empire, and this aircraft strikes caused the delicate situation that the people of Middle East are living in this moment.

David Cameron lends the RAF’s bases to the French allies

The Britain’s premier announced to give the RAF’s bases to France for carrying out a series of repeated aircraft strikes against the strongholds of Islamic State After the terrorist attack that has affected Paris, the secret services of whole Europe are focusing their controls in Bruxelles.

The capital of Belgium is much more that a simple capital because is the true political and administrative centre of the whole European Union, for this reason ensure safety in those building where are settled the most important institutions it means maintain order across the countries that belong of the European Union.

The press of all over the world is gone in Bruxelles for telling us how, the inhabitants of this city, are living this moment of tension.

In fact the intelligence after, the assault to Bataclan arena, released a declaration saying that Bruxelles, own for its important rule inside the European institutions, could be the next likely target of the foreign fighters of Islamic State.

However just today, the premier of United kingdom David Cameron in a press conference from Paris done together the president of French Republic Hollande, confirmed the willing of United Kingdom to give support to the French allies for bombing the strongholds of Islamic state in Syria.

It is not clear yet if, the Royal Air Force will take part together with the French fighter at the aircraft strikes against the bases of terrorists in Syria, or will allow only that the French air force could use the airport belong to RAF, anyway it is an important choice.

This could become an historical choice because it confirms the willing of the European states to put the word end at the Islamic States. If, after the attempt in Paris, every country had a different idea about how contain the violence of ISIS, now are all convinced to carry out several aircraft raids against those region in Syria and Iraq that belong to Islamic State.

Although the United Kingdom has been always an unicum in the Europe Union, its aid to the France in this tough moment, shows us how when others countries need an help Great Britain answers always with speed and firmness.

I hope that the good decision of David Cameron could be only the beginning for a series of repeated attacks toward the Khalifate of Terror in the regions of Middle Orient and North Africa.

The Shadow in the Mirror

That shadow, my likeness, that goes to and fro, seeking a livelihood …. How often I question whether that is really me …. – But in these…. O I never doubt whether that is really me. Walt Whitman (1819 – 1892) – Leaves of Grass

Everything that lives becomes acquainted with its own particular abilities primarily from the reaction of the environment. Mankind can only grasp its own external image through mirroring.
In Greek mythology, Narcissus caught sight of his own reflection in the waters of a lake, was overcome by its beauty, fell in love with the image and drowned. Hence the term ‘narcissism’.

The mirror has always played a perverse and magic role in mythology, fairy tales and folklore, where it is often depicted as making visible the supposed in-born duality of the human soul.

According to the anthroposophical beliefs of the Austrian philosopher, Rudolf Steiner ( 1861 – 1925 ), it is possible, by extensive staring at one’s own reflection, to discern not only one’s own self but also one’s Ahrimanic double, or doppelgänger – in other words one’s ghostly self or shadow.

The Ahrimanic double embodies the negative side of every person, the evil side. In ancient Persia Ahriman was the name given to the evil spirit in the doctrine of Zoroastrianism (1770 – 1300 BCE ) where Good and Evil were eternally locked in combat. This duality was later handed down in the Christian heresy of Manichaeism.
Staring at one’s own reflection in a mirror, as if the mirror were somehow capable of revealing the mysterious duplicity of the self, can hardly be seen as a restful practice, nor is it indeed recommended in any form of psychiatric therapy.

But the idea has been epitomised in the 1931 movie version of the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by R. L. Stevenson. Man is not truly one but truly two. This sort of fracturing of the human personality might be better explained if we started from the decision making process.

In daily life everyone moves forward from one turning point to the next, forced to make choices that progressively shape what each person becomes. Such choices include disciplines selected to guide a person in life, friendships, acquaintances, sports, jobs, girl/boy friends, holidays, hobbies, neighbourhoods, and so on.

For simplicity’s sake, let us hypothesize just two alternatives at a time. As a first step, let us choose alternative A and reject alternative B, i.e. pick one path out of a possible two. As the second step, let us opt for alternative A1 and reject A2. In so doing we will have already rejected potential alternatives B1 and B2, i.e. followed one path out of a possible four.

As the third step, we choose A1a by rejecting A1b, meaning we have now already rejected six additional potential alternatives, emanating from the rejected paths A2 and B – two coming from A2, two from B1 and two from B2. In other words we have followed one path out of a possible eight. As we continue, we inevitably sink ever more deeply into the abyss of the “ wheat and chessboard problem. ”

The Kurdish historian, Ibn Khallikan ( XIII century C.E. ), tells the story of how a Vizier asked to be rewarded for his invention of the chess game.

His prize, the man said, should be equal to the overall number of wheat grains obtained by putting a single grain on the first square and then doubling up the number of grains with each successive square of the chessboard, right up to the 64th square.

Thus, by adding 1+2+4+8+16+32+64+128, 255 grains had been obtained by the end of the first row. Then, by adding further grains to the second row of the chessboard, an overall figure of 65,535 was reached. Finally, with the 64th square, a grand total of 18,446,744,073,709,552,615 grains was arrived at.

Absolute concepts of good end evil are extraneous to nature, for any species will consider its survival as the primary goal and therefore good, and evil as the reverse of that. But in the course of history, or evolution, mankind has built up ever more complex societies, as well as ever more complex personalities, fashioned from the myriad intertwinings of chance and choice.

When in trouble, one is apt to looking back over one’s past life in an effort to detect the turning point when the right path was missed. But as often as not the chosen turning point is not necessarily the correct one, being viewed with hindsight and from the perspective of someone suffering from temporary discomfort. It may simply be tailored to the occasion.
Should one fall into a sort of psychic trance through staring at one’s own image in the mirror, one might well see not just one’s shadow but instead a confused bundle of missed paths and alternatives, the multitude of other selves one might have become.

What appears in the mirror – the shadow – may be none other than a reproachful and scornful reflection of one’s own poor choices, ignorance and overconfidence at the start of most of life’s unpleasant situations.

The image reflected in the mirror recalls the alternatives judged evil at the time and duly rejected, whereas the real evil was to have missed the right choices. We also have to bear in mind that there is always a chance component, not easy to envisage, when deciding to proceed on what one assumes to be the right way.

Since all those that live, or have lived, in the world progress by trial and error, taking a wrong turn is simply a bad move in each life’s game.

But at the same time the uncertainty as to whether one is actually on the right path makes one more prepared to tackle short or longer runs of unpleasant consequences.

C. G. Jung said that one does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. One way of doing so must be to become better acquainted with the shadow revealed in the mirror.

Tower Bridge and London Eye, two true representative symbols have been lit with the colours of France flag

After the bloody attempt happened in Paris two days ago, the monument more representative from all countries of the world have been lighted with the colours of France flag. This is has been a sign of respect that the governments of the majority of countries have shown toward the victims of last violent terrorist attack.

In the United states is been lit the famous Empire State Building in New York City, probably one of most known skyscraper in the world, instead on the bay of Sydney the amazing Opera House arena, with its enormous sails, gave strong emotions.

London honoured the victims lighting with blue, red and white lights on both architectural masterpieces, Tower Bridge and London Eye, two true representative symbols of this huge metropolis.

The atmosphere around the world is of a deep dolour for the tragic happened, however it has been a elegant and important manifestation of respect. Also the high BT Tower, located in the central borough of Fitzrovia, has shown on its led screen the France tricolour flag.

Nevertheless I would remind that only ten months ago we were assisting at the same kind of sad celebration, it means that the politicians from whole Europe have not been doing nothing for trying to avoid the repetition of these kind of attacks.
Probably all those polemics that raised after the beginning of the actions of war in Afghanistan and Iraq have brought so high level of stress inside the cabinets, that now the occidental governments prefer to avoid to carry out whatever hostility action against the Islamic State.

This problem will not be defeated with this signs of respect, buildings lighted with colours of flag of some other country or march of peace, but only with a series of precise and organized air raids against this hellish stronghold of global terror.

Our leaders need to find a common way for achieving a safer international situation, because with these kind of attacks nobody is safe but we are always and wherever under a possible danger.

London warned Chronicles from a city in a state of alert

Only three days later the terrorist attack which has done fall the whole Europe in a diffuse fear toward the Islamic State, doing a round for the most popular boroughs of London, you can see how much the urban security systems have been increasing since these last seventy two hours.

London, that has always been a safe city, since the terrorist attempted happened on 21 July 2005, improved its measures of control. London is a huge multicultural metropolis, this is a good thing but it means also a great responsibility, because to have so many different cultures together imply a certain level of risk, the mankind is not perfect.
The British government and the mayor of London have been working in a enjoyable partnership to avoid the repetition of the tragic bombing fact of 21 July. However the danger is always around the corner and also the most security system of the world could have a few but fundamental weak points.

Image result for paris embassy in London
Nevertheless I decided to check in first person the level of warning of London, I selected four of most representative places for tis delicate moment: the French Embassy, the French Consulate, Buckingham Palace and Westminster. Are all likely other targets for a possible political terrorist attack, for this reason I tried to pick up any information by the policeman.
The atmosphere was very heavy, anyway I got some answers. Outside Buckingham Palace and Westminster, I asked to a group of some policeman, these two question above:
in which areas of London are the police’s controls increasing?
which places or building could be a likely targets for a possible other terrorist attack?

They answered me that wherever in London the control are increasing, in those famous tourist places such as: Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden and the whole borough of City of Westminster, have been sent a great number of agents, nevertheless the police and the secret services are carrying out a lot of checks anywhere until the far borders of London.

About the second question they told me that any place with a great concentration of people could became a target for the Muslim terrorists, in fact they reminded my that this evening the Wembley stadium will host the football match between the England team vs the French team. The football match organized to raise funds to the cancer research, could be a likely target for the aggressive porpoises of Islamic State.
When I went to the Embassy and Consulate of France I asked for speaking with a member of these institution, but the special measures of security that are adopting now, did not allow me to do it, anyway I enjoyed to speak with the agents outdoor these two institutional buildings but they released a short interview and nothing more. It has been a normal reaction for a tragic and special moment for the all Occidental world.

Meantime, news from the most important press from all over the world, are issuing two important notices: the crash of the Russian flight on the desert of Sinai seems that has been caused by a bomb device attributed at Islamic state, and the France state is carrying out a series of several aircraft strikes.

The confirmation about the crash happened in Egypt is a tough new, because it means that we are living in a true difficult international situation, however the reaction that the French government has been giving is a hope for complete resolution of this difficult moment.

Paris under attack

After ten months since those tragic attempts that affected Charlie Hebdo and the supermarket Jew, the Capital of France is come again under a terrorist attack

In London a lot of people left several crowns of flowers, as a gesture of respect for the victims, under the entrance of the Embassy of France

Just yesterday the newspaper of all over the world, mostly those of United Kingdom and United States, were  celebrating the killing of Mohammed Emwazi.
Mohammed Emwazi, grown in London but born in Kuwait, is became tragically famous for have beheaded the USA’s journalist James Foley and other hostages like the British aid worker David Haines.

The executioner was killed in a U.S. drone strike while was getting into a car after leaving a central building in Raqqa, a stronghold of Islamic States in Syria.

The primer minister of United Kingdom enjoyed the occasion for releasing a declaration about what is happened; in his interview Cameron said that the United Kingdom and its allies have been pursing, over these lasts year, to put the word finish at the world Islamic terrorism, and continued saying that what is happened in Raqqa has been a successful demonstration of this porpoise.
However in only twenty four hours of difference, the Occident is fallen in a new and diffuse fear toward the Islamic world. Paris, after ten months since those tragic attempts that affected Charlie Hebdo and the supermarket Jew, is come again under a terrorist attack.

This time the target of the attempt has not been a office of any newspaper or some other strategic or political place.

It means that they are not finding more excuses for releasing their repressive violence but they want only set off a wide and open war against the Occident and nothing more. This is the demonstration that in the world of today does not exist safer places than other because with this kind of terrorist actions we are always and wherever under danger.

Has not hit only Paris but its whole region, nevertheless the main place affected by the terrorist attack has been the Bataclan music hall located in the central Paris.

The command has shooting against the pedestrians, killed more of one hundred and twenty people, while wounded a number almost double of person. This command, compound by few but lethal man, brought the hell in that quiet borough of Paris.

We do not know if the attempt happened of yesterday has been a reaction for the killing of the famous British executioner Mohammed Emwazi or has been already fixed some months ago, but probably the indecisions that the governments of all over Europe are showing about the crisis in Syria and Iraq are feeding the growth of a extensive terrorism.

Parigi sotto attacco, dallo Stade de France al Bataclan: fotocronaca degli attentati
If the political leaders were more joined to pursuit the fight against the Islamic terrorism maybe the number of attempts around the world would not be so high. The increase of these kind of attacks is the demonstration that if the international situation will remain so blocked, they will not have pressure to programme and set off others terrible assaults. The only break to the Islamic terrorism would be carry out a series of raid against the strongholds of the Islamic state, but after the war in Afghanistan and Iraq the leaders prefer to avoid to set these kind of actions and doing so risk to leave their own citizens without a true defence.

In London a lot of people left several crowns of flowers, as a gesture of respect for the victims, under the entrance of the Embassy of France, meantime in whole Europe the work of the police and the secret service are increasing for avoiding others body attempts.

EU heads and EU institutions on attacks in Paris

The European Union is deeply shocked and in mourning after the terrorist attacks in Paris.

It is an attack against us all. We will face this threat together with all necessary means and ruthless determination. France is a great and strong nation. Its values of liberty, equality and fraternity inspired and inspire the European Union. Today we stand united with the French people and the Government of France.

This shameful act of terrorism will only achieve the opposite of its purpose, which was to divide, frighten, and sow hatred. Good is stronger than evil.

Everything that can be done at European level to make France safe will be done. We will do what is necessary to defeat extremism, terrorism and hatred. We Europeans will all remember November 13th 2015 as a European day of mourning. All Europeans are invited to join in one minute of silence in memory of the victims at noon on Monday, November 16th.
