WHERE THE SEA SPEAKS OF ITALY

The Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK introduce the SIGNA MARIS PROJECT On the 27th September, the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK presented the Signa Maris project.

The goal of the Project is the promotion and valorisation of tourism in Italy via the sea, promoting the cultural, natural and food&Beverage excellencies of the territory. Focus is given to the accessibility of the territory and as a consequence, the increase of the tourists flows inside a Sea – Landmark system. In other words, the objective of Signa Maris is the promotion and valorisation of tourism in Italy, via the sea – specifically, it is the enhancement of access to, and awareness of, the innumerable historical, cultural and natural offerings of the Bel Paese via its ports, particularly those ports in the Southern Regions of Calabria, Campania, Puglia (Apulia) and Sicilia (Sicily).

Signa Maris is a project supported by many institutions – the European Union, the European Fund for Regional Development, the Italian President of the Council of Ministers, and the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and the Intermediate Body for Cultural, Natural and Tourist Attractions (MIBACT-POIn) – all of whom propose that nautical tourism (i.e. the natural synergy between Italy’s Marina Network and its cultural and naturalistic heritage) be integrated into traditional tourist flows.

A whole session has been dedicated to the project and many people (the main target was English speakers) joined it having the opportunity not just to discover more and more about this project but also the opportunity to taste and enjoy southern Italy’s typical Food.

During the presentation each attendee was invited to taste typical products from Sicily. Modica Chocolate has been one of the most successful. People were given an explanation of its unique quality. During the presentation many images of the itineraries were transmitted and people were invited to download the Signa Maris App on their Smartphones. Many interesting questions were asked, and many of the attendees thought that the south of Italy, although an outstanding area, is difficult to reach.

This is exactly what the project tries to change; thanks to the Signa Maris Itineraries, people can now plan and discover amazing places, finding the connection between land and sea.

RWC 2015: Italy out of the games

London – As usual the word weekend means “rugby games”. In fact eight games have been played in the last weekend.

In the Pool A we have seen the heart-breaking match England and Australia that is finished with the win of the Wallabies for 33-13 that put England automatically out of the Knock-out stage.

The only hope for English people now is to arrive third in the pool and gain the automatic qualification to the next World Cup that will be held in Japan.

The other match has been Wales-Fiji that finished 23-13 for the Welsh team. Wales and Australia have gained the qualification for the Knock-out stages and the third place will go to England or Uruguay.

In the Pool B the South African Springboks have beaten Scotland in a match finished 34-16 and a 26-5 win for Japan against Samoa. South Africa and Scotland will arrive in the Top 3 so they have gained the qualification for the next World Cup but one of the two teams could not arrive at the Knock-out stage.

In the Pool C the All Blacks have gained the qualification to the Knock-out stages beating Georgia for 43-10 and Argentina is in the Top 3 after winning 45-16 against Tonga.

In the Pool D France and Ireland have gained the qualification for the knock-out stage and the third place will go to Italy (5 points and one match to play), Canada (4 points and one match to play) or Romania (0 points and two matches to play).

Ireland has won against Italy for 16-9. All the Italian points have arrived from three free kicks shot by the Italian-Scottish fly-half Tommaso Allan. The other match has been France-Canada finished 41-18.

The review of “The Interview” Show-man vs real journalist

The Interview is a comedy with a political background in which a showman Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapoport (Seth Rogen), decide to make something different in journalism for their variety and gossip programme.

They discovered that north-Korean leader Kim Jong-un was a huge fan of their show and they successful arranged an interview with him.

The next day, CIA Agent Lacey proposes that Dave and Aaron assassinate Kim.
This could look like a very funny movie but the plot isn’t so nice: the movie is a combination of gag in which Rogen is a smart, ambitious crazy and Franco is a honest silly, unaware.

The mix of the two anyway is nice and funny. Lots of the comics scens are linked to the incorrectness of the politic sentences said by Franco. They live as two adolescents, stupid and immature.

The other relevant character is Kim. During the first part he pretends to be completely different from who he really is: kind, funny and very willing to help other. But then the real Kim is revealed and is going to be dangerous for everyone around him, including Franco and Rogen.

This film was criticizes for its contents and also for the role of the main characters .The film was consider an attack for the North Korea because it tells the story behind the assassination of a leader and it would be consider as an act of war .

The North Korea government threaten to Usa an attack if Columbia Pictures released the film so the company was forced make changes and only when it was considered acceptable for North Korea it was released.
Few months later even the Sony Pictures Entertainment was attacked by the GOP (guardians of peace), a group of Korean hacker, who said that they could publish private thing about movie stars working for Sony such as George Clooney and Leonardo Di Caprio.

For thethreas of the GOP Franco and Rogen cancelled their public apparition for the film promotion. The film didn’t satisfied the expectation of the people but it had large collection
The north Korea criticizes the realising of the film with a picture in which Obama is like a monkey.

The caracther of Dave Skylark can’t be consider a journalist; he is just a showman using an informal language and in his interview doesn’t speak about politc, weather, report but only about music, gossip, sport, curiosity. A showman offers an entertainment service while a journalist tells the facts in an object way. Skylark in the film tries to do the journalist but he can’t do this because Kim interferes with his work

The cradle of London

The Tower of London or the White tower is one of the most famous fortresses visited by a lot of tourists every year. Behind it there’s a hidden story.

The tower was built in 1078 by William the conqueror who became king after the battle of Hastings.

The purpose of the Tower was to keep imprisoned all the people who didn’t agree with his thoughts. The richest prisoners were treated better than the poorest one. It is completely made of stones. The big fire in 1666 in London stopped up to the tower because of his particular structure.

Symbols of the Tower are the ravens.

Their presence is surrounded by a legend: John Flamsteed, the astronomical observer of the Tower, complained to King Charles II that his works were interfered by the birds.

The king ordered their destruction only to be told that if the Ravens had been left the tower, the kingdom would have fallen.
Nowadays there are 6 Ravens with one wing trimmed so they can’t escape.

The guardians of the tower, named Yeomen Warders or Beefeaters, in the past were guards of the prisoners but now they are tour guides and an attraction. They are so called because at the beginning they could eat as much beef as they wanted from the king’s table.

A lot of important figures of the past were imprisoned in the tower such as the politician Thomas More and Harry’s VIII second wife Anne Boylen in 1546. She was beheaded as accused of incest, adultery and because she was not able to give a male heir to her husband.

The legend says that her spirit walks around the tower with the beheaded head under her arm. After the Restoration, the Tower hosted the new crowned jewels.

They consist in all the objects worn during the ceremony of enthronement like crowns, scepters and globes. Also during the two world wars, the Tower played a main role.

In 1941 German Josef Jakobs was the last person to be executed as a spy.
Nowadays only rich people live in the Tower so they can take care of the garden and the structure. Even if the tower didn’t have a nice past, it is recognized as one of the most intesresting buildings to visit.

RUGBY WORLD CUP 2015

London – During last week 12 games have been played for the Rugby World Cup 2015 that is held in England, 3 matches per pool.

In the Pool A Australia has won two matches in four days, the first has been a good 28-13 against Fiji in a really equilibrated match.

Then the Australian team humiliated Uruguay with an incredible 65-3 in a match completely dominated by the Wallabies.

The other match has been the derby between England and Wales at Twickenham Stadium where the Welsh team has won 28-25 in a match where the Welsh fly-half Dan Biggar and the English fly-half Owen Farrell almost made all the points of the game.

In the Pool B Scotland beat both Japan and the United States without suffering a lot: it won 45-10 against the Nipponic team and 39-16 against the American team scoring in both games 5 tries and 4 conversions and conceding to the opposite teams only 1 try and 1 conversation.

The difference of points has been made by free-kicks. The other match has been a stunning 46-6 for South Africa against Samoa with the Samoan team that failed to score a try.

In the Pool C Namibia played two matches like Australia and Scotland but lost both. The first match has been against the All Blacks when they only tried to stop one of the bookies’ favorite losing 58-14 and have done something better against Tonga in a match finished 35-21 with the first half dominated by the Tongans and the second half almost equilibrated.

In the same pool Argentina has demolished Georgia winning 54-9 and all the points scored by the Georgian team arrived by three free-kick scored by Kvirikashvili.
In the Pool D Italy won 23-18 against Canada in a match that has brought Mauro Bergamasco in the books of rugby history.

In fact the Italian flanker is the second player (the first has been the Samoan Brian Lima) to play in five different world cup editions.

The other two matches has been two bad losses for Romania, the first against France for 38-11 and the second against Ireland for 44-10.

At the moment the Italian team is third in his group, this means that would not pass to the knockout stage but will be automatically qualified to the next world cup.

THE GOLD UNDER OUR OWN FEET

Under the streets of London is hidden one of the bigger gold reserve of the world.
We are talking about the wealth of the English empire which amount at lots of billions. It is contained in the dungeon of the Bank of England, in a rich zone of London: Bank.

This gold is used as guarantee of the moneys in circulation, so the sum of the banknotes values corresponds to the gold value.
During the worst period of the English economy the queen Elizabeth II showed her people the wealth of the reign reassuring them about the situation.

There is also a museum behind the main office of the bank where there is a collection of all the banknotes that have been ever used in Britain included the “ one pound banknote ” existed till 1984. Thanks to this collection one can follow step by step the story of the National Bank of England.

There is also one of the several ingots that appertain at the British gold reserve and you can touch it: a piece of gold which weighs more than thirteen Kilos… but no, you can not stole it.

English and Italian media: different ways to see Silvio Berlusconi.

The ex-Italian Premier is seen in a different way by English and Italian media. The reason why is very simply: first of all, Berlusconi owns 3 different television channels in Italy where many journalists are paid but they did not tell the truth about him.

This, of course, doesn’t happen in England because English medias are not influenced so they say what they really think about him.

When the scandal about him and the young girls with whom he spent a lot of time ” at night” spread, Italian journalists under his control did not talk about this as a real scandal and, as a consequence, a part of Italian people (apart from Rai journalists) said it was not important because it is just his private life and then they stopped writing articles on this subject .

The fact is that Italians media were blinded by his charismatic attitude which the ex Premier used to make people “love” him. The BBC journalist Mark Franchetti made a documentary where he interviewed an Italian journalist from Mediaset and where he made us understand who Silvio Berlusconi really is.

SCIENCE MUSEUM: To the moon and beyond – a Journey of inventions exploring the space
