No more deadlines. Is it really the end? The final goodbye is near for the UK

London – the final date for the UK to leave the EU – is here within two months! The Hungarian composer and entrepreneur’s Brexit-inspired music has never been more actual then now!

The British exit if the European Union is the most significant economic agreement between major economies since the Second World War and much about the forthcoming process of transitioning out of the EU has no precedent. Both the UK and the EU will be significantly changed by what is about to unfold economically, socially and in every aspect of our life.

It is no wonder that this historical event urges many battels of opinion, emotional turmoil and even inspire artists who feel the urgent need to express the opinion of hundred thousand of people through their art! Mr Joseph Felföldi Hungarian composer and entrepreneur mogul, the founder of a Hungarian food company was one of the first artist who responded to this life changing significant act of the UK.

 

In the immediate wake of the 2016 shock UK decision to leave the European Union, Hungarian film and music producer Joseph Felföldi felt moved to compose a musical response entitled “Brexit Ballet”.

 

The composer has strong business links to the UK so he wanted to express the mixed feelings of Europeans that he felt were missing from the discussion. Felföldi’s music video was uploaded to YouTube 2 years ago and gained almost a million views. More than half of the views came from English-speaking countries, with most of the rest from European Union countries.

 

Mr Felföldi feels the near-one-million views and countless comments have vindicated his video project and he hope it will continue to draw attention to the importance of international political awareness as the world enters an ever more turbulent period of change.

 

No-deal Brexit has never loomed larger than in the current moment. Boris Johnson has said that Britain will leave the European Union on 31st of October. His entire political strategy is based on the credibility of his threat to follow through, regardless of whether he has come to an agreement with the remaining 27 members.

 

A no-deal Brexit means the UK would leave the European Union immediately on 31stOctober 2019, and there would be no agreements in place about what the relationship between the UK and the EU will be like in future.This includes special agreements about how UK and EU companies could work and do trade with each other. A lot of companies have said they are worried about not knowing exactly how their businesses will work if there is a no-deal Brexit at the end of October.

 

“ I sympathise with the people of the UK, I respect their their decision to leave the EU”  Mr Felföldi says, “ I would even go further and say that I don’t think the British people’s vote to leave was a mistake, but that the leaders have made a mess of it since.”

 

Joseph Felföldi’s song is inspired by the English ballad tradition, with the lyrics identifying themes that Europeans associate with Britain: A misty island, at once nearby and distant; a proud seafaring nation with a long history; and a complex destiny intertwined with that of Europe. Out of respect, Felfoldi sings the lyrics in English, himself.

 

The choreography is arranged by Zsuzsa Laczó of the Csokonai Theater in Debrecen, with dancer Kitti Gall playing Britannia on a bare stage. The narrative evokes a combination of admiration, beauty, trauma, and sorrow.

 

“With our eyes on Britain now, it creates an opportunity for self-reflection and wider reflection, too: Where we come from, where we are now and where we are heading to politically, physically and spiritually. These are significant questions we should contemplate and we should act if we don’t like the picture.” – explains Felföldi.”

 

Felföldi is a Hungarian businessman and founder of a candy company which exports across Europe and the world, with the U.K. representing one of its strongest partners. He also writes and produces songs and poetry. He lost one of his eyes in an accident when he was 14 years old. “At this time, his sister gave him his first guitar; his affinity and commitment to music, literature and arts has accompanied his every waking moment since,” the statement says.

Londra – L’Ambasciatore Raffaele Trombetta ha premiato, nel corso di una cerimonia presso l’Ambasciata d’Italia a Londra, i vincitori della quarta edizione del premio “Italy Made Me”, promosso dalla stessa Ambasciata con il sostegno dell’Università Telematica delle Scienza Niccolò Cusano, l`Associazione culturale italiana “Il Circolo” e il Gruppo Consulcesi. Il premio è volto a valorizzare il lavoro e le professionalità dei giovani ricercatori italiani che operano nel Regno Unito e che si sono formati, almeno in parte, in Italia.

L’Ambasciata ha coordinato con l’Associazione degli Scienziati italiani nel Regno Unito (AISUK) e la Italian Medical Society of Great Britain (IMSOGB) il processo di selezione dei progetti di ricerca nelle seguenti aree di studio: Life sciences (LS); Physical and Engineering Sciences (PE); Social sciences and Humanities (SH).

L’attenzione sui giovani e’ sempre meno dei big, ma quest’anno, l’attenzione sembra sposta su di loro, anche in sala stampa i giovani sono accolti con etrema attenzione e curiosita’, sono il futuro della musica italiana qualcuno ha detto e come dargli torto. E’ la volta di Eva con Cosa ti salvera’, una melodia semplice ma incisiva, si sentira’ molto parlare di lei. Poi eccolo Leonardo Monteiro con Bianca, una canzona di testo buono, ma la musica forse andrebbe rafforzata.

Interview with Gianmaria Matrone, ricercatore italiano presso l’Imperial College di Londra

 

Gianmaria Matrone was born in Pompeii, Italy; he is graduated in Naples University ‘’Federico II’’, and he studied materials engineering and nanotechnology at Milan Polytechnic and he continued his studies in London at Imperial College. His research is supported by the EU and is based on substitution of Silicon (the major source of silicon are the Australian beaches) with polymers, that are cheaper and eco-friendly; for example, polymers are used for building solar panels.

What would you want to do after your studies?

‘’Founds of the EU ends on 2019, for my future I have two possibilities:  go on whit the studies in America or work for a start up in Milan. We would regain the energy covering the substrate like paints, chairs, chandelier etc… and the start up will sell the items such us brushes, paints and substrates. It’s important to a start up, how you sell an idea to carry on the company.’’

Are you going to continue your studies in Italy?

‘’No, it’s complicated because I should convert my English doctorate into Italian one, and I would need a support by lawyer.’’

Does a degree taken in England have the same value in Italy?

‘’Now the degree has an European value; but the problem ,maybe, is that it isn’t recognized with the same title in Italy. In England the magistral degree takes one year while Italian one takes two years, so the problem is about credits.’’

What will happen if the UK came out from the EU?

‘’In this case the UK should revalue her academic mechanisms, that now aren’t tied up entirely to the European dynamics yet.’’

What about the funds of the research?

‘’In my opinion the UK did a wrong choice, because many funds won’t be available neither for the English students noir for the Italian students.’’

According to you, how will this problem be dealt?

‘’The funds that were used for the EU will be spent on research. The private agency will continue to finance researches but are bonded to European projects, so they will lose the 50% of their power.’’

NAPLES: ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS CITIES IN THE WORLD? ITS BEAUTY IS THE ONLY WEAPON ALLOWED

London (Elisabetta Fiaschi) – Naples is one of the most dangerous cities in the world. This is what The Sun states in one of the its latest articles. The others? In the top 11 Raqqa, Honduras and Mogadishu.

“The world is a dangerous place”. Nothing could be more true. Nevertheless a famous writer named George Orwell once wrote: “all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others“. It was 1945.

After 72 years, could we confirm that all the cities are dangerous but some cities are more dangerous than others? Obviously we can. Let’s just say that Naples is closer to Minimus than to Napoleon.

Let’s know our “characters” better.

Snowball/Raqqa: The Syrian city is the new capital of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. Almost the entire city and its monuments have been destroyed by bombardments as Kurdish, European and International forces try to liberate it from the occupation of ISIS.

Squealer/Honduras: This South-American Republic has the highest murder rate in the world (85 for every 100,000 residents). It is the key staging post to the US. The Department of State warns US citizens to consider the risks of travel in that zone.

Napoleon/Mogadishu: The Somali capital has experienced decades of war. Militants al-Shabaab continue to terrorise the city. There is a high danger of suicide bombings and other terrorist attacks carried out by extremists.

And now, just to be clear, let’s examine another “top 11”.

Minimus/Naples:

  1. It is the third-largest municipality in Italy, a European unitary parliamentary Republic that has experienced no war after 1945.
  2. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world.
  3. It has the fourth-largest urban economy in Italy and it is the world’s 103rd-richest city by purchasing power.
  4. It also hosts NATO‘s Allied Joint Force Command Naples, the SRM Institution for Economic Research and the OPE Company and Study Centre. The city was named a City of Literature by UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network.
  5. In 1995, the historic centre of Naples was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site with an outstanding universal value thanks to its setting on the Bay of Naples.
  6. It is noted for its numerous higher education institutes and research centres. The city hosts University of Naples Federico II, the oldest state university in the world founded in 1224. You can also find the oldest marine zoological study station in the world and the world’s oldest permanent volcano observatory.
  7. Many films are set in Naples. It is also the backdrop for several movies, TV and Fashion shows (last year D&G chose Naples for their 30 years of career celebration).
  8. It is the most visited city in Southern Italy and in the last 3 years tourism has doubled.
  9. Mafia exists like in many other countries in the World which simply use a different name to describe it. Simultaneously there are dozens of associations that, together with the State, struggle every day to defeat it.
  10. The most common stereotype: Naples is dirty. Maybe some areas in the suburbs. But so are many other big cities in the World. Should we mention that in London pollution will not fall to legal levels until 2025?
  11. Thanks to centuries of colonization and cultural integration, the Neapolitan population has become one the most welcoming and multi-ethnic communities in Italy.

In a World where missiles are launched every day and walls are built in countries based on melting pot, it’s time to put the old prejudices aside.

The biggest danger in Naples is the fact that, once you have been there, there’s a very good chance you won’t leave it ever again.

In fact, these ingredients are perfect, for example, to make a good pizza that ‘Starita Pizza Academy’ wants to demonstrate by giving a three days course for who is interested in, for a value of £1.195.

Suggestions and little cookery strategies will be given even by important chefs such as Francesco Mazzei, Felice Lo Basso (1 Michelin star), Giorgio Locatelli (1 Michelin star), Niko Romito (3 Michelin stars), Claudio Sadler (2 Michelin stars), Davide Degiovanni, o Theo Randall, who will bring part of their regions’ tastes, from the North to the South of Italy.

Also, this time there will be a surprise within the food section: ‘Foodscape’ by Jacopo Sarzi. Born in Sardinia, the food designer and artist Jacopo wants to show his creativity by making his plates real sculptures. His project, as he said, is a tribute to Italy, whose inhabitants keep producing an extraordinary food.

However food cannot be served without a drink. Beverages are going to be part of the exhibition, by revealing that creativity is not just on a plate, but also in a glass. Thus, Bellavita is happy to announce its ‘Bar Academy’, where professional mixologists and bartenders are going to use Italian drinks and products such as Fabbri, Birrificio Angelo Poretti, Villa Sandi, and Branca for their cocktails.

Furthermore, within this section, relevant UK sommelier, wine writers, wine merchants will also take place at the festival, by being the protagonists of ‘Villa Sandi Award’, organised by UKSA/AIS, through which a selection of the best wine experts of the year will be launched by Luca Martini, Head Sommelier at Osteria Da Giovanni. One of the competition’s tests is a wine tasting, useful to demonstrate their knowledge by identifying the background of the product. At the end, the jury will show the results and the winner.

Everyone can attend it and intervene about a discussion that belongs to our daily life.

Ed Sheeran: the success of a common guy. The dates of his gigs around the world

Why is Ed Sheeran so loved?  What special secret does this guy have that made him the most-paid pop star of all times?

Son of the art curator John Sheeran and of the jewellery designer Imogen Lock, he grew up in West Yorkshire. In 2008 he went to London to follow his artistic aspiration , where he started making concerts in small pubs with a few people. When he could not find any place to play, he played in the street.

This seems like a Hollywood screenplay, but it is just the life of a guy that has seduced the world with a simple guitar.

In 2010, Sheeran started to post some videos on his YouTube channel and, believing in music, he flew to Los Angeles where he gathered many fans. Then, he started featuring Just Jack and one year later the rapper Example asked him to go with him on his tour.

In 2011 Sheeran published his independent EP, No. 5 Collaboration Projects, which sold more than 7.000 copies in a week. This was the beginning of his great success.

He wrote the song Moments for One Direction and he sang Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd during 2012 Olympics Games closing ceremony.

In 2015, he sent a message to his followers, saying that he would take a pause from his phone, emails and social networks for a bit. But he came back in Autumn with his new album.

People like Ed: he is the friend everyone wants to have, the person you would like to talk to because he has not let his success change his personality. This is demonstrated by the fact that most of his gigs are sold out months before they take place: a clear example is the concert at O2 Arena in London, where he had to arrange a 4th date!

He focused on music and on themes and texts that, thanks to their simplicity, are the voice of great topics. His success is not only due to his music, but also to the way he is. He is the mirror of a generation which is often forgotten and does not find any landmark.

Ed Sheeran got his success by working hard every day, knowing that, even though one day reflectors will enlighten someone else, he will still be brilliant, because he shines on his own light and he does not need anything else. Because he is and he will always be Ed.
